[Leadership] Clarity

Those who are learning to depend on God will also be learning to clearly articulate what God has on His mind in the form of goals and objectives, as well as strategies and tactics. One of our goals must be to represent Him accurately to a diverse and unpredictable audience. To do this will demand flexibility and perseverence, to hear clearly and to speak clearly.

This week expect the Lord to speak to you clearly and begin to refine your goals and objectives going forward. Look for other ways to be precise in thought and actions in both private and public settings.

Clarity and Brevity are Brothers.

[Leadership] Wisdom & Judgement

We often think that if we can hear God’s voice clearly and consistently we’ll never have to make decisions on our own, that He’ll just give us His wisdom and we’ll know what to do. But God is pouring His character into ours, so that as our mind, will and emotions are healed and freed, and our soulical senses are finely tuned, we can, in our selves, judge righteously. We bring that judgement to God for His review, but there will be increasingly little feedback, as He sets us free to try and fail and make mistakes and succeed as part of the learning process. Take every opportunity that God has arranged for you to objectively evaluate the situation, even if you’re not involved, to develop this badly needed leadership skill — Sound, Objective Judgement.

[Leadership] Setting an Example or Settling for an Appearance

As a leader, we recognize that we are on assignment representing our King. So there are standards of character that are to be presented on His behalf, with the goal of drawing others to Him as well as avoiding being a hindrance to any work He is doing through us. There is at times the concern that we are merely “acting” as a leader — pretending to be patient when we don’t really feel patient, faking courage when we are scared, posing as wise when we don’t have the foggiest notion if what we are saying will work…

You’re NOT faking it! As long as you are depending on God, through your spirit, to provide the strength, character and wisdom, you are “acting” exactly according to your true nature. This is the distinction between relying on the reality of your spirit identity and trying to meet some standard to fulfill perceptions through your strength of soul. Before we were re-inspirited, it was impossible to meet the requirements of leadership character. Now that we have been re-inspirited, all requirements have been met, and we now embody every leadership character, regardless of appearance. So we are merely learning to act according to the truth about who we are.

Over time, the Lord will indeed provide opportunities to observe these qualities in yourself and others. In Him, there are no boundaries, and He withholds nothing from His beloved.

[Leadership] “Lone Rangers” Welcome

Leadership is a solitary endeavor.

Though there are likely successful leadership ‘teams’ out there, within that team there is still one leader, a driving force, one who sets the agenda, provides the vision, maintains the motivation, etc. This is the leader.

Instead of running from being singled-out, as we depend on God to free us from ourselves, we will also need to embrace His leadership characteristics that are being formed in us. We must be willing to be singled out, accepting both praise and arrows, embracing our authority and responsibility.

Don’t be distracted by those who warn against being the ‘Lone Ranger.’ If I recall correctly, the Lone Ranger was very effective at what he did.

We are destined to rule and reign here on this earth — each of us, individually. This will only be a corporate ruling and reigning as more and more learn to rule and reign individually.

Ask the Lord if there is an area in your life in which you have avoided making changes because it would have put you ‘out-of-step’ with others. If so, ask Him what you need to accomplish this change, then ask Him to provide what you need.

Report back with any results, questions or challenges…

Leadership Series: Recognizing Your Character & Developing Your Skill

On Thursdays we will be investigating two aspects of leadership as we learn to rule and reign now: Character and Skill. As a spirit being, you already have leadership character; you don’t need to ‘mature’ into it, receive a ‘mantle’ or a word of prophecy, or even feel like you are or want to be a leader. You ARE a leader. Our challenge during our time here on this earth is to develop the characteristics into leadership skills. Fortunately we know that God is already doing that on His schedule. But as in all things He wants us to be joining Him in His work (you). So we will be looking at developing some specific leadership skills so that you are confidently available when the Lord calls upon the leader in you in a particular situation.

To start with, ask the Lord if there is anything regarding leadership He’d like to discuss with you, perhaps a wound received at the hands of a leader, or because you were/are a leader. Or perhaps you don’t want to draw attention to yourself. He may give you a goal or project related to your training. Regardless, let the Lord speak to you, comfort and encourage you, in His own way.

As always, if you have any challenges or questions, you can either email me or post a comment and I’ll get back to you as soon as I can.

Adventure Awaits!
